slarti, that's great, it could be a great way of getting the detail on to the glass :)
i've forgot to tell you JC, the stencil thing came out just fine. you should try it...
Thanks SeaFox. I don't think I mentioned it here but this has slow colour changing RGB LEDs, it's nice to see the colours cycle through :)
Nice idea slarti, let me know how that goes if you get the chance to experiment :)
i was thinking of something here JC. i might try it out today. how about making the stencil for the engraving with the same technique that we use for making circuit boards? i think that the glass plate will need a non transparent paint coating prior to the photo-sensitive lacquer, but the rest is the same...
i'll see how much work there will be today, and maybe i find some time for experimenting.
in the meantime check out www.glassartists.org . amassing things there, i especially like the marbles part.
I'll make some at some point and stick them on eBay. I'll let you know when :)
mind wave shielding helmets they are called ! what, you are not wearing one right now?! nerd ;p
Definitely to do with aliens yes :D
We'd better start wearing tinfoil hats to stay safe :D
i was thinking there must be some more reasonable explanation to this phenomenon. maybe we are part of a global behavioristic experiment of some alien race? plausibile :D
LOL man, clones! ha ha funny, this is a good one ;)
"hey say i can fix anything and i can learn what ever interests me" - That's me exactly! Maybe we are brothers :D
"i for one can draw as a 5 year old" - Yes me too, we are definitely brothers, maybe even clones :D
Yes JC, i remember reading about your not too pleasant health state, as far as could understand what wikipedia says regarding ME, that can be a bitch. i am happy you have strength to cope whit it ... It is weird how much you and me have in common, although i lack in persistence. i have finished electro-technic high school and started a computer programing college, but it was not too much fun, ind i was too lazy to study, so i got my job as an automation technician. they say i can fix anything and i can learn what ever interests me.... not trying to be pompous here, don't get me wrong. some people are good at one thing, and others are at something different. i for one can draw as a 5 year old, and i suck in a lot of other fields too.
and yes, you have fooled me with that wisdom thing, and i think i'm not the only one here ;)
slarti, I haven't worked for nearly 3 years now due to illness, I have ME, but I used to work as a gardener/odd job guy and before that I was a computer programmer.I don't have much of an education either. I did ok at school but nothing special, then I went to college and studied building management/design, then I got bored of that and taught myself to program computers in a professional capacity and got a job doing that :D
I'm a jack of all trades, but master of none :D
Engraving is fun, and easier than you think.
As for wise, I don't know. My dad was a very wise man and I just pretend to be like him. So far I seem to have got away with it :D
bravo jc. this is a cool idea. can i ask you what is your education and what you do for the living? you seem to me like an all around man, many different skills and may i say wisdom ? hey, but you ARE JesusChrist after all, right? ;) i may just give this glass sculpting a try...
Again with this I didn't create the original design, but I took a simple tree design I liked and then adjusted it to fit the needs of an illuminated engraving. The cartoony feel was a feature I wanted as doing something more realistic seemed beyond my skills :D
It's funny vis, quite a few people who have seen this have said that. Maybe I should take note! :D
I plan on exploring my creative side much more next year, so maybe I'll make a few to sell :)
